Hi! My name is Alexandra and I’m the Founder of Kasama.
I run Kasama with the help of my unpaid intern, Edna (she’s also my mom, a successful entrepreneur, and the most overqualified intern of all time!).
Kasama was born in 2021 as a rum brand bringing a fresh perspective and flavor-profile to a drink overflowing with cartoon pirates and sailors. Kasama has always been about so much more than rum – it’s a magical paradise bursting with delicious cocktails, loud colors, oversized foliage and knee-slapping laughter. Three years, thousands of retailers, and many accolades later, Kasama is expanding, bringing our tropical, maximalist ethos beyond the glass to the home, the closet, and beyond.
My mom is from Manila, Philippines and instilled a deep pride in our culture in me. A beautiful archipelago made up of 7,000+ islands and brimming with color, joy and immense talent, it’s where I learned to relax, celebrate the little things, and not take myself too seriously.
And that is the ethos of Kasama.
We aim to spread joy and carefree tropical vibes through playful, smile-inducing creations inspired by the islands that I love so much.
We’ve partnered with small, female-owned businesses to bring Kasama to life. Our products are made in small batches from local materials like abacá (a banana leaf fiber) and natural pearls from Palawan. We are proud of the craftsmanship of our artisans, many of whom are part of cottage industries, meaning the artisans weave or embroider at home, allowing them to care for their families while earning an income. This is especially important in remote provinces and far-flung islands, where economic opportunities are limited. It also means that most of our pieces are one-of-a-kind!
We are having a lot of fun creating products and moments that spark joy, conversation and connection.
