Behind the scenes

I still remember my first Kamayan at the age of 7. It was my first trip to the Philippines and I can still remember the joy of scooping up the rice and shrimp from the banana leaves with my hands and stuffing them in my mouth, as everyone else at the table did the same. I had never experienced anything like it, and it remains one of my favorite Filipino traditions - it is the epitome of "Kasama"! I wanted to capture the fun, messy, communal wonder that is a Kamayan, but in a form you can take with you every day to accessorize your outfit or your bag.
